6th Form Day: A Global Perspective, a Door to New Opportunities

Date: 09 November 10.30am-4.30pm (registration from 10am)
Venue: School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), Vernon Square Campus, Penton Rise, London WC1X 9EW (nearest mainline / underground station: Kings Cross)
Fee: Free of charge

The Japan Society, in association with Ritsumeikan (UK) and SOAS, is pleased to invite sixth formers to attend a FREE one-day course about Japan, its culture and its role in the global community.

The day is designed to give insights into aspects of Japan, traditional and modern, through lectures and practical workshops. It is aimed at students who are studying Japanese, but will also be of interest to those who have not had the opportunity to do so formally at school, but who are considering Japanese studies at university in the UK or applying to do other subjects at university in Japan.

The course will feature lectures on Japanese contemporary culture, politics and business. Elective practical workshops in smaller groups will allow students to experience a range of activities, including Japanese language, folk song, the strategy game of go, nihon buyo, sumie ink painting, cookery and manga. Information on Japan-related study and career options will give pointers on opportunities for students hoping to pursue their interest beyond school. Lunch is provided.
