The Korean Cultural Centre (UK) is pleased to announce the upcoming exhibition Baeja, the Beauty of Korea, organised by Arumjigi Culture Keepers Foundation (hereafter, ‘Arumjigi’). Arumjigi is a non-profit organization located in Seoul, Korea. It strives to preserve and present the delights of Korea’s Cultural Heritage. Baeja, the Beauty of Korea is its first overseas exhibition. The exhibition reveals the beauty of Korea’s traditional clothing, reviving them with a modern twist. Baeja refers to the sleeveless vest of simple design from the hanbok, each exquisitely made in various colours and materials. It has long showed the elegance of Korea clothing expressed with unstrained individuality.
The exhibition presents three forms of beaja: traditional baeja by master artisans, Ms. JIN Tae Ok’s modernized works based on tradition and the modern baeja by young designers who have reinterpreted this tradition.
