Grace Yeo was born in Seoul, Korea and commenced her piano studies at the age of four. She went on to study at the Yewon School and Seoul High School of Arts whilst appearing frequently as a soloist in Korea. In 2004, she began her undergraduate studies with Professor Hie-Yon Choi as a scholarship student at the Seoul National University and was invited to perform at the Young Artists Concert Series in Seoul.

In 2008, she was awarded the Barbara Stringer Scholarship for postgraduate studies in London at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama where she entered the class of Joan Havill. She was awarded all the major music prizes and graduated with distinction, holding a Masters of Performance degree. She was subsequently awarded the GSMD Piano Fellowship for 2010/11 and 2011/12.

Grace has been a major prizewinner in many competitions including First Prize in the Bechstein-Samick Piano Competition in Korea 2006; First Prize and Audience Prize in the Beethoven Society of Europe’s Piano Competition in London 2009; the Norah Sande Award Competition 2010; the ‘Premio Speciale Rosa Logrieco’ Beethoven Prize at the Arcangelo Speranza Competition in Italy 2011; the Hastings International Piano Concerto Competition 2012; and recently the Brant International Piano Competition 2013.

She has given many solo recitals in London including Kings Place, St Martin-in-the-Fields, St James’s Piccadilly, Drapers’ Hall and Salters’ Hall. Major performances have included the Royal Festival Hall in 2011, courtesy of the Philharmonia Orchestra/Martin Musical Scholarship Fund, and in 2012/13 she made her début recitals at Wigmore Hall, the Purcell Room and Birmingham Town Hall. Most recently Grace performed live on BBC Radio Three’s ‘In Tune’.

Other highlights include piano concertos to capacity audiences at Birmingham Symphony Hall (Rachmaninov’s Second Concerto in 2011) and at the Royal Albert Hall (Beethoven’s Emperor Concerto in 2012 and Grieg’s Concerto in 2010) and at the Yamaha Concert Hall in Vienna. The RAH performances have been released as DVD/CD recordings on Kingsway Music Records.

Future engagements in 2013/14 include performances throughout the UK, France and South Korea including chamber music concerts with Ensemble OPUS in Seoul and a return to France for Le Moulin des Arts Festival, as well as major solo recitals at Seoul Arts Centre in January 2014 and at Manchester Bridgewater Hall in February 2014.
