Japanese Northern Network Event

The Kitanokai was set up with funding from the Japan Foundation’s Local Project Support Programme. This project set up regular study meetings for Japanese language teachers in the North of England who might not be able to come all the way to London for workshops or Edexcel feedback days. This event is in conjunction with the Association of Language Learning, Yorkshire.

This event will look at Motivating through Culture: Developing Cultural Understanding in the MFL Classroom. There will two workshops:’Teaching Culture using “Erin” and “Marugoto” by Seiji Fukushima, the chief language advisor from the Japan FoundationActivities for Cultural Understanding in the GCSE and A Level Japanese Classroom by Shoko Middleton, an experienced teacher of Japanese who is also a member of ALL’s Japanese language Committee. Show and TellAttendees are invited to bring teaching ideas or resources, which works well for their students. This will give a £5 discount for the event.
There are two events coming up in June:

6th June: The main focus is practical use of “Active Inspire” software
Venue: Aquinus College in Stockport
Cost: Free of charge

Emi Tamai, a Japanese teacher who uses the software regularly in her lessons, will showsome samples of her work and tell us how easy it can be to plan and manage lessons.
This event will also be an opportunity to share best classroom practices.
Please bring a memory stick, so that you can take some resources in the session.
