Scotland Loves Anime

Scotland Loves Animation are delighted to announce the return of the hugely successful Scotland Loves Anime Film Festival 2011. In only its second year it boasts an incredible six day programme of anime film screenings, talks and workshops with prominent guests from the anime industry.

Highlights will include a stunning line up of some of the freshest anime films including Hotarubi no Mori E (In the Forest of the Fireflies), Mardock Scramble 1st and 2nd Compression, The Princess and the Pilot, Arrietty and Letter to Momo; alongside screenings of some old favourites including Daft Punk’s musical film Interstella 5555; an Education Day with keynote presentations from Aardman Animations (of Wallace & Gromit fame) and Glasgow’s own Axis Animation; and a Japanese art exhibition. This year there will be also be a Judge’s Category, in which industry guests will select the best from the line up. The Glasgow weekend will also welcome Shuko Yokoyama (Aniplex) and Yumi Sato (Brains Base), the producers of Hotarubi no Mori E (In the Forest of the Fireflies) who are also responsible for Bacanno and the hit phenomenon of Durarara!! They will introduce the film then host a Q+A session after the screening. Ryosuke Takahashi (Sunrise), director of Votoms Pailsen Files will be speaking at the Edinburgh weekend. The festival will run from 7-9 October at the GFT, Glasgow and 14-16 October at the Filmhouse, Edinburgh.
