Artist info
Tim Chen started learning the violin at five and achieved his DipABRSM in 2004. In 2001, he graduated from the Birmingham Conservatoire with a BMus (Hons) under the tutelage of Simon Smith. Currently, Tim is continuing his MMus degree with Mayumi Fujikawa at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. Over these years, he was also received instructions from Raymond Wong, Andrew Bernardi and Detlef Hahn to name a few.

Tim is in demand as a player having participated in various projects such as leading the Hong Kong New Philharmonic Youth Orchestra for three years, performing with various musical organizations such as the Orchestra Europa and London Arts Orchestra. He has performed in concert venues such as the Queen Elizabeth Hall, Royal Festival Hall, Cadogan Hall and the Birmingham Symphony Hall.

Yukiko Shinohara was born in Ibaraki, Japan and studied at Tokyo Metropolitan Senior High School for Fine Arts and Music. She received her BMus from Goldsmith’s College (University of London) under Susan Bradshaw, and later studied with Douglas Finch at Trinity College of Music where she received an MMus Degree and Postgraduate Certificate in Advanced Performance. She also studied with Catherine Vickers in Frankfurt and attended summer schools at Dartington, Darmstadt, Salzburg and Nice. She was a Park Lane Young Artist in 2001 doing solo recital at South Bank Centre in London, and has performed Ligeti’s Etudes at the contemporary music festival Composium 2003 in Tokyo and premiered Britten’s early piano works at Aldeburgh Festival. She performs both as chamber musician and soloist in Japan, U.K, Belgium, Holland, France, Greece and Spain. She is currently on the staff as an accompanist at the ‘Trinity Laban Conservatoire for Music and Dance’ and leader of Anglo-Japanese Society of Wessex’s ‘4 hands’ and ‘8 hands’ piano groups ‘4Tune’ and ‘Inzpir8tion’
