Zipangu Fest

Returning for its third year, Zipangu Fest is a festival devoted to Japanese film and will be held at the Cinema Museum in London’s Kennington district. The festival will celebrate Japan’s rich cinematic heritage with retrospective screenings of some unseen gems alongside a host of newer titles, with a large proportion of the programme screened from film.

Among this year’s section includes Melting Pot Japan, a section featuring two works that look at Brazilian immigrant populations in Japan, Lonely Swallows: Living as Children of Migrant Workers and Saudade. The festival will also include the Reel Zipangu section, featuring screenings of Kaizō Hayashi’s To Sleep So As To Dream, and a revival of Teinosuke Kinugasa’s avant-garde masterpiece Crossways, as well as return of the popular Beyond Anime strand, showcasing a collection of imaginative and artistically progressive examples of contemporary Japanese animation.

Date: 14 September 2012 – 16 September 2012
Venue: The Cinema Museum, London
